Get ready to toss the caber and dance a jig! The Bundanoon Highland Gathering, affectionately known as "Brigadoon," is Australia's premier Scottish Highland Gathering. Held annually in the charming village of Bundanoon, New South Wales, this vibrant event transports you to the heart of Scotland without leaving the Land Down Under. Prepare for a day filled with bagpipes, kilts, traditional games, and a whole lot of Scottish spirit. Brigadoon's history stretches back to 1976, when a group of Scottish expats and enthusiasts decided to bring a taste of their homeland to Australia. What started as a small gathering has grown into a major cultural event, attracting thousands of visitors each year. The event celebrates Scottish heritage through a variety of activities, including traditional Highland games, pipe band performances, Scottish country dancing, and clan gatherings. It's a chance to connect with Scottish culture and experience the warmth and camaraderie of the Scottish community. A visit to Brigadoon is an immersive experience. Witness the strength and skill of athletes competing in traditional Highland games like caber tossing and stone putting. Be mesmerized by the stirring sounds of massed pipe bands marching in formation. Browse the stalls offering Scottish crafts, food, and merchandise. And don't forget to sample some traditional Scottish fare, such as haggis, shortbread, and Scotch whisky. The event also features various food stalls offering a range of cuisines, but the Scottish treats are a must-try!
